Your P&L is a liar; only a rolling 13-week cash view tells the truth.
Build a living spreadsheet with three columns—starting cash, cash in (cleared payments only), cash out—and update it every Monday. Share it in a dedicated Slack finance channel so the whole team sees the same truth.
Why: Accrual accounting can show you profitable on paper while payroll due Friday will bounce.

Concentrate all cash in one high-yield, low-risk account to remove self-deception.
Avoid multiple bank accounts or speculative investments; park funds in a 3-4 % FDIC-insured account so the number you see is the number you have.

Speak both cash and accrual languages fluently.
Cash tells you if payroll will clear; accrual tells investors what your growth curve looks like. Reconcile the two monthly with a one-page bridge—if they diverge by >20 % something is broken (collections, timing, or discipline).
Why: Each language serves a different stakeholder; ignoring either blinds you or misleads investors.

Every major spend must survive a bear-base-bull stress test.
Run three scenarios: revenue ‑10 %, plan holds, revenue +10 %. If two or more scenarios say no, wait. Tie hires and big spends to milestone gates and re-run quarterly.

Acquisitions happen on a dime—keep a lightweight data room always ready.

Why: Speed of response is the difference between a mediocre and a great offer.

Trust doesn’t scale—replace card hand-outs with policy-driven limits.
Issue role-based cards ($500 default, $5-10k for leads) and block merchant categories. Review spend weekly, not monthly, and use AI flags to catch mistakes early.
Why: Small leaks compound; catching an $8k personal ad spend on Friday avoids an HR fire on Monday.

Track 3–5 weekly numbers in the same Slack format every Monday.
Runway (weeks), 4-week average burn, DSO/collections, core growth metric (MRR/GMV), unit-economics proxy (CAC payback or LTV/CAC). Color-code red/yellow/green and assign one action item.
Why: Shared truth creates accountability and prevents drowning in dashboards or flying blind.

Boards and teams need clarity on one page, not forty slides.
Top third: cash & runway. Middle: budget variance with honest explanations. Bottom: exceptions, risks, decisions needed. Send on the same day monthly whether asked or not.
